Dolna Sekirna 3

85 (a) dà dà ə ìmaemo ednò kùče vìxɤr štò izlèzne
Yes, yes! We had a dog [named] “Whirlwind”. When he went out

86 (a) sɤs kùčeto svin’ù če otèpa
with the dog, he’d kill a boar [each time].

94 (a) sà kùčišta se tikà svìraju i tegàje dòjde kùče lòvno
And now the dogs come creeping in. When a hunting dog came

95 (a) a òn i da ga ne poznàva stàrɤcɤt
and it – and my husband didn’t recognize it,

96 (a) pribèremo kùčeto vṛ̀žemo rànim ga òn se obàdi
we caught the dog, tied it up; I fed it, and [my husband] put out a notice.

97 (a) na dòjde si tìja čorbadžìjata i si pribère kùčeto
and this rich guy came and took his dog.

Eremija 3

6 (a) tùka màčki pìš zatvòreno ta kùče ne mòže da ulèzne
… here. Cats. [But I keep the door] shut so that dogs can’t get in.

7 (a) jà pa kùčeta mnògo mràza nèču gi
I really hate dogs, I don’t want them.

8 (a) a màčkite si doòdat
But cats come around.

9 (GK) i òt gi mràziš tìja psètata
And why do you hate these dogs?

10 (a) nèma mnògo bəlxì ìmat
No [reason to like them]! They’ve got a lot of fleas.

12 (a) mnògo
A lot.

13 (GK) ama tè ne xòdat po xòrata
But they (fleas) don’t move onto people.

14 (a) nè tè tùka tè èno èno è pàk e tè ležì
No, but here – hey, there! There’s one lying over there!

15 (a) a čorbadžìja mu ojdè nèkade na ràbota i go ostavì cìsto samò
His owner went off somewhere else to work and left him totally alone.

16 (a) nìko mu ne dàva ni xlèp ni kadè òdi tè takà
Nobody gives him bread or anything [at all]. Wherever he goes, it’s the same.

17 (a) sàmo se tùku dṛ̀sa
He just [sits] here and scratches.

19 (a) i kadè se dṛ̀sa ako stàpiš bulxàta te nalàzi fednàga
And if you step where he’s scratched, a flea finds you right off.

21 (a) tè tovà tè sèko go gòni lèp mu ne dàva nìkoj
And that’s [how it is]. Everyone chases him off, nobody gives him any bread.

22 (GK) da sa čùdi čovèk kàk e žìvo òšte
One wonders how he can still be alive.

23 (a) e ne znàm kakò žìvi pròsto tè
Well, I don’t know how he lives. Just [look] there!

24 (a) à če stìgneš kolàta nèma štò
Ah, you’ll catch the car, no question!

26 (RA) kùčeto li
[You’re talking to] the dog?

27 (a) kùčeto
The dog.

29 (a) gòni kolàta
It’s chasing the car.
