fishing nets

Vladimirovo 3

5 (VZh) bàra tùka lòvexa li rìba vɤf nèja
… a river here. Did they catch fish in it?

6 (a) pa lòvea sɤs serkmèta
They did, using cast nets.

9 (VZh) à kòj gi pletèše tìja serkmèta
And who used to weave these nets?

10 (a) mɤžète si go kòj si ìma
The men [did] – the ones who have them.

14 (a) mɤžète pràvea sɤs òdea sɤs serkmè a nìe ženìte pràveme
The men made [them] and went off with the cast nets, while we women made –

15 (a) sɤs ə ə tavà koto dèka ga kazà:me prikazvà:me za gṛ̀stite
well, this – as we spoke of – we talked about hemp.

16 (a) istɤčème po ə koto plàtno i nə tùrame tek è tovà
We weave that into fabric, and put [it] – on this

17 (a) na kàk e tùk tavà zavìeš od edìnija kràj
– like it is here – you twist up one end of it [closed]

18 (a) i ottùka i òdime nìe səž ženìte si òdime
here, and then we go out together with [other] women,

19 (a) ednà ɤdnɛ̀tɤ dɤržì ottùka natùka i tekà tè ɤ̀ po vodàta
one holding each side [of the fabric], and go along the water’s [edge]

20 (a) àjde àjde àjde i rìbata òp vlèzne u tuvà i si lòvi
and here they come – the fish slides into the [fabric] and gets caught.
